The S7-300 is a modular PLC that has run machines and process plant across Europe for more than two decades. A rack holds a CPU, power supply and a mix of signal modules, with ET 200M using the same modules as distributed I/O over PROFIBUS. It is being phased out in favour of the S7-1500, but large installed bases remain.
What to check before ordering
- The full part number, including the version suffix (for example -0AB0), because hardware revisions differ in firmware and features
- CPU firmware version, since some programs require a minimum version
- Whether you need a front connector, memory card or bus connector with the module
- Whether your project uses a specific communication processor or PROFIBUS/PROFINET variant
