What it is and where it's used
The 1746-OB16 is an Allen-Bradley i/o module from the SLC 500 range. Typical applications: Driving DC valves and relays. The manufacturer no longer sells this part new (discontinued 2024), which is why it is sourced from surplus stock elsewhere in Europe.

- Processor series and OS series (for example SLC 5/04 OS402), because they affect programming software support
- Chassis slot count and power supply rating against the loaded modules
- Whether the module is fitted with a battery or memory module and what is stored on it
